Dear Messieurs and Mesdames,

Welcome to my theatre. I trust that your predecessor's made no mention of me or of that which I require, and so I send you this brief message of apology for their negligence and to keep you well informed. My needs are as such:

You will continue to keep Box Five on the grand tier empty for my private use and so shall it remain until further notice. I also remind you that my salary of 20,000 francs is due on the 1st of the month and that you will be required to send it via Madame Giry.

If my demands are not met then a terrible misfortune you could not begin to imagine will befall you.

Brief History

Erik, also known as the Phantom of the Opera, was a disfigured musical genius who, after a series of unfortunate events throughout his younger years, entombed himself within the walls of the Opera Populaire in Paris, France. He spent most of his time terrorizing the patrons of the Opera House and helping, in his own way, Monsieur Lefevre, then the manager of the Populaire, to produce a successful opera. That was until the arrival of one Christine Daae, with who's voice Erik becomes personally responsible, endeavouring to teach her to become the Prima Donna (the lead soprano) of the Opera House.

After ten years of quiet obsession, he eventually sees to it that the current soprano, Carlotta Giudicelli is made unavailable for the new production of Hannibal, much to the dismay of new managers Messieurs Andre and Firmin, who recently amassed a large fortune in the "scrap metal" business and purchased the Populaire. From there, Erik's shroud as the Angel of Music spirals into a murderous, destructive and passionate attempt to capture the affections of Christine, which are quickly beginning to favour Raoul de Chagny, her childhood sweetheart.

The Phantom is an obsessively dangerous outcast who's driven by his passion for music and his love for his pupil. He can be described as being beyond the comprehension of the meager minds of his time, having the creativity and imagination which not only make him a talented musician, composer, architect and magician but also make it difficult for him to process reality. With his disfigurement, he has difficulty not only socialising with his fellow man but also empathizing, which makes him especially dangerous as he has no compunction about taking human life. Blessed with a sharp wit, a short temper and a quick lasso, he is not a character to be trifled with or denied that which he has set his mind upon.
